Local employers are invited to nominate apprentices through written applications, which are then short listed prior to judging interviews. During these interviews a panel of judges question individuals on topics such as engineering knowledge, contribution to their company, career achievements to date, ambition etc in order to select a winner.
Presentation of the award forms part of the Associations Annual Dinner with the winner receiving the trophy, which they hold for a period of two years.
Further details relating to the history of the Frank Watson Prize can be found within the Associations ‘The First Hundred Years’ publication (see history and publications).
Please note that the prize for 2016 to 2018 has been put on hold pending a new Young People prize – more details click here.
